One of my newest passions is ski-touring. Climbing snow-covered mountains and then riding down in pure powder is an amazing feeling.
In summer I try to climb the mountains also on 2 wheels as often as possible.
Surprise, surprise: I also like to hike the mountains whenever possible.
Kitesurfing in Egypt
I'm addicted to water sports, especially to Kitesurfing. I travelled to numerous destinations (Egypt, Poland, Spain, etc.) to pursue my passion. In the year 2013 I received my teaching license to teach others how to surf with the wind.
Taking a break for a moment and enjoying the beautiful scenery in Spain.
Surfing in Spain
Trying out new things is one of my passions. That's why I tried out wave surfing in Zarautz, Spain. A lot of bruises but equally much fun.
Riversurfing in Austria
We are a small community in Austria who get together regularly to "wake-surf" on a small river. The planning of a standing wave is in process.
Travelling to Okinawa, Japan
A holiday/backpacking-trip while I was studying in Tokyo.
Mahout training in northern Thailand
Getting to know elephants from up close was an extremely memorable experience.
Diving is a great way of escaping the "normal world" and emerge into a whole different environment.
Top of a mountain in Koh Phi Phi
A backpacking trip during the cold months in Europe to Thailand
Buying a bike in NYC
When I was studying and living in New York City I wanted to get around quickly, cheaply and to get to know my neighbourhood in New York City. So I bought a bike.
Living in London
Currently I am living in London, enjoying the European big city life.
To get to know NYC a couple of friends and I made a day-long bike trip through the boroughs.
Central park in NYC
Hanging out with GID folks
Getting to know the Japanese culture
Amazing Japanese food
One of the things I miss most.
In Kochi, my class and I attended a traditional metal-forging workshop to learn from Japanese artisans.
The result of the workshop
An extremely sharp, handmade knife made by myself in rural Japan.
Sakura = Cherry blossom
I was lucky enough to be able to enjoy the time of cherry blossom in Tokyo.
Climbing Mt. Fuji
At the end of my period in Japan, we climbed Mt. Fuji. An extremely challenging but also very rewarding and funny experience.
At the top of Mt. Fuji
We arrived at the top of Mt. Fuji at dawn. Even though it was boiling hot in Tokyo, it was freezing cold at the top of the mountain.
Visiting the north of Germany
Beautiful Limone at Lake Garda in Italy.
Lake Garda is one of my favourite holiday places to go to. The amount of activities you can do there are basically endless (Wind- & kitesurfing, biking, sightseeing, etc.) and the beautiful scenery just adds to that.
Trying out archery
As said previously, I love to try out new stuff. One of it happened to be archery.
Since I like climbing and hiking, I wanted to try out the sport which combines both of them: Via Ferrata, a really cool experience.
I took the motorbike-test at the same time as I got my driving license, and since then I've rented out a motorbike a couple of times to just cruise around and enjoy the freedom and acceleration.
One of my side-projects during my under-grad was to design and make my own longboards. I learned a lot during the whole process about wood-working, wood-finishing and how to make a process work for mass-production.
